How can I receive my order?
Great question!
We offer local deliveries for $10, weekly, or free with a minimum order of $200.
We will do our best to arrange a time frame that suits you. Won't be home? No problem. Leave a cooler filled with ice out and let us know where.
(Please note, our packaging comes in sizes of 12"x 12"x 6" and 12"x 18"x 6," depending on the size of your order. If your cooler is not large enough to accommodate our traditional packaging, let us know in the order "notes" at checkout and we'll use an alternative packaging method)
Local delivery cut off is within a 30km radius of the farm, and also within the city of London.
(30 km radius includes Goderich, Blyth, Mitchell, Exeter, Grand Bend, Hensall, Zurich and Lucan to name a few)
Located outside the local radius? We're currently working on a delivery schedule to accommodate our customers who live a bit farther from the farm (Such as the GTA, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Hamilton, Stratford, Woodstock, etc). In the mean time, feel free to message us to discuss options.
***Coming soon - on farm pick up***
Do you sell larger quantities?
We do! We'd be happy to add your name to our custom list. When inventory permits, your order will be processed. We will then contact you to discuss which cuts you would like and custom packaging instructions, to ensure you get exactly what you're after. Sizes of 1/4, 1/2 and whole cattle beast available. Send us a message to get started!
Why Grass Fed?
Grass fed beef has many benefits. Did you know that compared to conventional grain fed, grass fed beef has higher levels of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, more omega-6 fatty acids (linolenic acid) and higher levels of vitamins A and E. It also has a lower total fat content. Check for yourself!
Grass fed cattle utilize the natural carbon cycle to both replenish carbon stores, while at the same time, reducing the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. This is called carbon sequestration. By using restorative agricultural practices, we have the ability to enhance carbon sequestration and therefore reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.
We believe strongly in feeding our cattle strictly grass, not only for the clear health and the environmental benefits, but also, simply for the cattle. Cattle are ruminant animals, meaning they are designed to forage on grass in order to obtain their nutrients. It is how their body naturally and optimally functions. Nature knows best and that's why we decided to work with it, rather than against it.
Are your cattle raised with hormones and antibiotics?
Hormones - No.
Antibiotics - Only when absolutely necessary to treat illness in an individual cattle beast. We do not routinely give our cattle any antibiotics, ever.
The issue with antibiotics in the food we consume, isn't if the medication itself will end up in our food. Farmers adhere to a strict dosing schedule/ withdraw period to ensure it will not be a concern prior to slaughter. The issue comes with the practice of using antibiotics for reasons other than treating illness. Such as growth promotion, or preventing disease - prophylactic treatment. These practices can allow for antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria to form, which can make their way into our food chain during slaughter. If these bacteria then cause illness, it can be hard to find antibiotics to treat it properly. This is why we treat our cattle for illness only, in order to ensure optimal health of our cattle and the consumer alike.
What are the benefits of small scale farming?
It is no surprise that as the population increases, the demand for food also rises. In the cattle business, farmers are tasked with trying to provide more than what their land can sustain on its own. With grass fed, pasture raised cattle, the process is more time consuming than grain fed cattle. It is also not as cost effective and is limited by the amount of land - in order to sustain the herd. Regardless of the challenges, the end result is worth it in our eyes.
We source all of our supplies and services locally, which means our finances and business are redistributed within the community. From the local veterinarian, the farmer down the road who provides us with supplemental hay, to the abattoir who cuts and packages our beef. It all stays right here and ensures that we can continue to do what we love, to provide you with a quality product that you'll love.
How long will my beef stay good for?
Our beef is frozen at the abattoir immediately after cutting and stays that way until you decide otherwise. No thawing and re-freezing occurs on our end. Frozen beef will last indefinitely. However, for optimal quality, we recommend using within a 4-12 month period.
